Football Doozies

It’s Fri-YAY!!!  I really appreciate the weekends so much now that both of my kids are in “real school” we like to call it.  The few hours I get to see them once they get home from school until their bedtime is simply not enough time for this momma, especially if there’s dance or ball practice to go to as well!  I truly miss them so much during the week.  Call me crazy. I know, I know. Crazy when they’re with me.  Crazy when they’re not.

Here is a fun little treat I made yesterday and have put in my extra fridge to pull out on Saturday for our first ball game.  Aren’t they cute!!?  And really not hard to make at all.  I simply made a “cake cookie” some people like to call it  because you start with a boxed cake mix.  Then I just used store-bought vanilla icing for the center goodness and football threading.

Here is the recipe for the cookie:

1 box devils food cake

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

1/4 cup sugar

Heat oven to 350.  In a large bowl, mix together your cake mix, oil, vanilla and eggs.  Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.  Place balls about 2 inches apart and bake 9-11 minutes or until set.

Let your cookies completely cool before icing.  Simply add a little icing to the center of the cookie, keeping in mind that it will spread some when you add the other cookie on top.  Roll your cookies in sprinkles of your team’s colors if you would like.  They are adorable without the sprinkles too.  Then add a little icing to an icing bag or a Ziploc bag should work just fine for this.  Cut a tiny tip off the corner to add your football threading.  It’s as simple as that!  Not much to it.  Truly one of our favorite times of the year.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope your team wins unless you pull for Duke.  Haha! Roll Tide, folks!
