Whip It Up Wednesday: German Chocolate Cake

Happy WHIP IT UP WEDNESDAY!  I hope you all are having the best week!  Today, I am sharing the cake I made for my dad’s birthday.  When I asked him what he wanted, I fully expected him to tell me either blackberry cobbler or something lemon.  Those have always been favorites of his.  I was a bit surprised when he told me German chocolate, but he later told me he did it for mom, although he did seem to enjoy it very much.  Haha!

This is a recipe I had torn out from a Southern Living magazine and it is so delicious!  Any recipes I see in a magazine that I want to try, I tear out the recipe and put it in a sheet protector and then in a 3 ring binder of recipes that I have organized by appetizers, main dish, sides, and desserts.  It just makes it so convenient to find, rather than going through a recipe box.  I will attach the recipe at the bottom for you to print.

After icing the cake, I decided to decorate the top with a Russel Stover’s chocolate bunny, coconut and candy eggs.  I thought it turned out pretty cute and would be the perfect centerpiece for an Easter table.

Let me know if you try it, friends.  Have a wonderful day!  Love you all!
